Obituary of Mrs. J. Geneva Zoejay Gerring-Fubara

The Gerring, Rouhlac and Gillespie families announce with deep regret the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunty and cousin Mrs. J. Geneva Zoejay Gerring-Fubara. She went home peacefully to be with her Lord on August 22, 2016 at 11:35 AM at the home of her loving children, Glenn and Albertha Kamah Gillespie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Gerring and Bennetta Rouhlac Gerring-Freeman; brothers, James and Joseph Gerring; and sister, Elizabeth Jackson. She leaves to mourn her loss, her only child, Albertha Kamah (Glenn) Gillespie; foster daughter, Musu (Xcingo) Togba and step-son, Bapakaye (Garmai) Fubara; sisters, Louise Washington, Ellen Fatu Gerring (Solomon) Varfley, Abeke Joy Jackson; brothers, Samuel Gerring Jr. and Arthur O. (Rose) Gerring; grandchildren, Kamalenn and Marcus Gillespie, Niece Karina Kemah Varfley (Dash) Wilson and a hosts of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her interactions with children and adults, teaching them the word of God and to speak fluently, grew her interest in the teaching profession. She taught English and Literature at various schools in Liberia. Deciding to gravitate to another level, she served as the Executive Secretary to the Managing Director at The National Port Authority (NPA). Still having the passion for education, she enrolled at the College of West Africa, graduating with an “AA” degree in Managerial Science.

Geneva, Neva, Mama G, Grumma, Fubara, Mama Geneva, Sister, Aunty G as she was called by her many friends and relatives, loved the Lord. She was a devoted Christian, a caring mother and a loving friend. She was a woman of faith, even on her dying bed kept the faith, knowing that she was going to meet her Lord on that fateful day.
