Robert B. Freeman Sr.

Father, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, General, Congressman, Entrepreneur, Businessman, Farmer, Family man and friend.

The Freeman, Sherman and Urey families announce with profound sadness and regrets, the death in his eighty first year of Gen. Robert B. Freeman Sr. of Careysburg, Liberia. This sad event occurred at his Gbarnga, Bong County farm in Liberia on January 17, 2013.

Gen. Freeman also served the Republic of Liberia as Aide de Camp, member of the House of Representatives and was the oldest living General in Liberia. He was the son of the late Speaker of the House of Representatives (1943-1951) and Vice President-Elect of Liberia; Benjamin Green Freeman II.

General, as he was affectionately called, is survived by his wife Martha, seven children: Benjamin G. Freeman IV (Jamesetta), Karen Freeman-Cassell (Joshua F.), Jefferson J. Freeman (Rose), Nevins A. Freeman, Bernice Freeman, Robin Freeman and Robert B. Freeman IV.; Robert B. Freeman Jr. predeceased him; twelve grand children, three great grand children; one brother; Lloyd Kennedy ;Seton predeceased him, four sisters: Thelma Freeman-Garnett, Minerva Freeman-Thomas, Evelyn Freeman-Mathelier and Benetta Freeman-Bates ;Beatrice Freeman-Adighibe, Phebian Freeman-Gray and Nancy Anna Freeman-Fleichmann predeceased him, several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Robert’s imposing presence, assertive personality and jovial nature will be remembered with fondness by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 6, 2013 at the Sey’s United Methodist Church in Careysburg, Liberia at 10:00 am.

Interment follows at the Freeman Family Cemetery in Careysburg.
