There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die... Ecclesiastes 3:1-2

With sadness, the members of the Elsar and Sar families of the USA and Liberia announce the home going of their beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin, Emmanuel Suamana Elsar Sr. who passed away on October 5, 2020, at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey, USA. Emmanuel is survived by his children: Lionel, Quenah, Emmanuel Jr., Everett, Ealine; his siblings, his aunts and uncles, grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Emmanuel was raised in Monrovia, Liberia by his now deceased parents, Thomas Sar and Lama Sarnor. Emmanuel was a charismatic, caring and loving individual who kept his family and friends laughing with the humorous jokes and anecdotes he constantly shared. Even though his passing is tinged with pain and sorrow, we can celebrate Emmanuel’s life, gratefully acknowledging the warmth and benevolence he shared with us and those who knew him. We know he now rests with his parents, brother and other family members who have predeceased him.

Emmanuel’s impact was felt in numerous places, including serving as a member of the board of Trustee for the United Christian Fellowship Church based in Newark, NJ, President of the Liberian Community Association of North Jersey (LCANJ), an Executive Committee Member of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) political party in Liberia, former employee of Brown & Williamson in the United States, and former employee of the Ministry of Public Works in the Republic of Liberia. Emmanuel was also a Master Mason with the fraternal order of Free and Accepted Masons. He cared deeply for his country, family and people and his loss will be felt for many years to come.

May his soul rest in peace with the love and joy of the everlasting, heavenly Father.
