Dr. John Adolphus During

The During and Johnson families regret to announce the passing in his 72nd year of Apostle Dr. John Adolphus During, General Overseer of The Soul Cleansing Clinic of Jesus Christ Inc. Ministries, Former Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Liberia, Eminent Statesman on December 28, 2015 at the precise hour of 7:05am at the Aspen Medical Clinic following a brief illness.

Apostle Dr. John Adolphus During served the Government of Liberia for thirty years.  Ambassador During joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1974 as Deputy Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Liberia. He rose through the ranks of the Protocol Service to become Chief of Protocol of the Republic of Liberia (State Protocol) with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in 1980. He served in that capacity until June, 1990 following the outbreak of the civil war in Liberia. When a constitutional was democratically elected in July 1997, the President-Elect H.E. Charles Ghankay Taylor invited him to serve as the Country’s Chief of Protocol, the second time around.

As Chief of Protocol, Ambassador During served as Chief liaison between the Government of Liberia and the Foreign Diplomatic Missions accredited to Liberia. He travelled extensively throughout Africa, and has been received in audience by several world leaders including the Head of State of Algeria, Belgium, People’s Republic of China, Republic of China on Taiwan, Egypt, France, Ghana, India, Republic of Korea, (South Korea), United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, United States of America and the Vatican, to name a few.

Apostle During is the Senior Pastor and Co-founder of the Soul Cleansing Clinic of Jesus Christ Inc., a Bible centered, non-denominational charismatic Christian Ministry located in Chocolate City, Gardnersville, Monrovia, Republic of Liberia, West Africa. A devout Christian, Apostle During was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 1979. Formerly a Baptist, Apostle During served as an executive member of the Board of Managers of the Liberia Baptist Missionary and educational Convention, Inc. He was Vice Chairman for Africa for the Men’s Department of the Baptist World Alliance. Reverend During attended several congress of the Baptist World Alliance including the Youth Congress in Portland, Oregon in July 1974; the Men’s Department Meeting in Hong Kong, August 1974; the Baptist World Alliance Congress in Toronto, Canada, July, 1980.

Funeral arrangements are as follows:

The body will be removed from the St Moses Funeral Parlors on January 22, 2016, at the precise hour of 4:00pm, and taken to the Soul Cleansing Clinic of Jesus Christ Inc. in Chocolate City Gardnersville.  A night of wake keeping will commence at 6pm to 10pm.

Thereafter funeral services will be held at the same venue on Saturday January 23, 2016, at 10am. Internment follows thereafter. Meanwhile anyone desirous of making contributions can contact the following numbers: 0880316846/0886524356/0777518844 on behalf of the family.

He leaves to mourn his lost, his wife. Mother Oretha Tonia During, 10 children, Wendell George During, Bindu Amy During, Adelaide Wrottoe During, E Ameria During Sengbe, C Raphael During Sr, Johnetta Alma During,  Jake During, John Rudolph During Mauretta Vivica During. His sisters Louise During and Sorrow J Dixon; his nieces: Mrs. Louise H Beer (T. Max), Victoria Natoe Goba, Alberta R Williams-Nyewah, Mailue Dillon Teah( Christian  ) Patricia Williams, and Baby Sister Johnson. He will also be missed by his  Nephew Fred Johnson , his brother in law Christian Twegbe, other relatives, the Crown Hill Benson Street family and friends, and of host of other relatives both in Liberia and the United States of America.
