Franklin Daplinu Roosevelt Dunbar

Franklin Daplinu Roosevelt Dunbar, son of the late George Dunbar and TogbaNay Frangalo, is dead. He died in Monrovia, Liberia on Monday, March 23, 2020. He was born on June 10, 1947 in Saniquellie, Nimba County; educated at Cuttington University (then Cuttington College & Divinity School (where he obtained the B.A. degree in Economics); educated at the Florida Memerial University and the Florida International University from which he obtained the M.A. degree in Economics.

Franklin was married to the late Dr. Minnie King-Dunbar; which marriage ended into a divorce. He later married to Mrs. Ruth Dunbar, an Ethiopian immigrant in the United States, out of which union they had four children. He lived and worked in the United States for many years as an entrepreneur but moved back to Liberia in the late 1990s, after which he married to Mrs. Hu-Miranda Henries-Dunbar; from which union they had three children (one of which pre-deceased him). Franklin’s first child is Nowai Dunbar (fondly known as Mammie Roosevelt).

Franklin Roosevelt continued his entrepreneurship after moving back to Liberia; he engaged primarily in consultancy.

Franklin Roosevelt is survived by his children: Nowai (Mammie Roosevelt), Daplinu Tiger, Gbakele II, Seyon Yuoo, Ykalakemen Dagum, Abai Peace, Alexis Belle Clara, TogbaNay Nuke and Richelle, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Franklin Roosevelt is also survived by Mrs. Typhena Dunbar-Fahnbulleh, his immediate elder sister though their mother, TogbaNay, a host of other sisters and brothers, nephews and nieces, cousins and other relatives from both the Dunbar and Farngalo Families in Liberia and the United States. His mortal remains shall be interred at the Dunbar Family Farm in Palala, Bong County, Liberia on Saturday, April 4, 2020.
