Rebecca Tonia Totaye -Davis
It is certainly with mixed emotions that we, the Davis and Totaye families, announce that on the early afternoon of Thursday, November 12, 2020, our beloved Rebecca Tonia Totaye-Davis departed this world, in her 70th year, to receive her reward from the Lord, in the mansions he prepared for her in glory. In preparation for her transition, she may have said like the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:7-8, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Our beloved Rebecca Tonia made her transition while hospitalized at the Roger Williams Hospital, Providence, RI after a period of illness. She had a good fight but it was not meant to be.
Rebecca Tonia Totaye-Davis was a loving, caring, and a family person who loved her country and her people very much. Rebecca worked for the government of Liberia for almost two decades providing committed and dedicated service in the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization Services during the Tolbert and Doe Administrations. Tonia’s last rank in the bureau was Captain.
In 1987, Rebecca Tonia relocated to the United States of America where she and Mr. Samuel Davis met. They developed a strong friendship that progressed into a relationship and on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2003, their relationship culminated into a wonderful marriage. Tonia and Sam lived happily together as husband and wife until November 12, 2020 when she made her transition.
Tonia was the mother to three adult children including Mr. Prosper (Junior) Kotchi, and Ms. Bantee (Mamielue) Benson, both of Rhode Island, USA, and Mr. Wilfred P. Belleh of Liberia.
Among the many people left to cherish the memories of our beloved Rebecca Tonia Totaye-Davis is her caring and loving husband, Mr. Samuel Davis of Rhode Island, USA. Others include her children Mr. Prosper Kotchi, and Ms. Bantee Mamielue Benson of Rhode Island, USA, and Mr. Wilfred P. Belleh of Liberia. Her grandchildren of Liberia, her siblings Mr. John Totade, Ms. Alice Totade, and Ms. Martha Totade of Liberia, and Mrs. Betty Totade-Mayer of Austria are all cherishing the memories of our beloved Rebecca Tonia. Others mourning this tragedy are the cousins, nieces, uncles, nephews, friends, relatives, church members, and former coworkers of Liberia, United States, and many parts of the world. Finally, cherishing her memories is her very best friend, Rhoda Davis of Monrovia, Liberia.
May the soul of our beloved Rebecca Tonia Totaye –Davis rest in peace with the Lord until resurrection!
We will always love you!!
