Agnes Mombo Tugbeh Davies

January 1, 1938 – July 30, 2020

The Davies, Tugbeh, Mombo-Tarloh, Williamson, and Mayson families announce with profound regrets the death of Agnes Mombo Tugbeh Davies at the age of eighty-two years old. This sad event occurred on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 5:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time at the Adventist Medical Center, White Oak, Maryland. The late Mother Agnes, affectionately called, “Kpayan Mombo”, “Chuku Dee”, “Chuku Ma”, “Cousin Mombo”, “Aunty Mombo”, “Ma Mary”, “Jesus Ma”, and “Professor of Klahnwein” including many other names was loved by her family and friends for her devout faith in God; her dedication to her family and loved ones; her profound wisdom and her great sense of humor. There was never a dull moment with Mother Agnes. She was the life of the party.

The late Mother Agnes Mombo Tugbeh Davies was born unto the union of Mr. Polae Tugbeh and Madam Torbor Tetee; in “War Country”, Kpayan District, Sinoe County on January 1, 1938.

Mother Agnes was reared and loved dearly by her paternal aunt Mrs. Agnes “Old lady Mombo” Thomas (whom she was named after). Mother Agnes was a housewife, a trader, and a midwife who left positive impressions on the lives of many people.

Mother Agnes Mombo Tugbeh Davies embraced Christianity at an early age and was baptized in the Nimely Nah United Methodist Church in Greenville, Sinoe County. She was a great chorister in the Klahnwein/Kru language. She could sing most of the western hymns in the Klahnwein language.

“Mary Mary”, “Chuku Ma”, “Kpanyan Mombo” was predeceased by her loving husband Fetus Davies, Sr., her beloved sons – Festus Davies, Jr, Sonnie Doe Davies, and Festus Davies, III, her sister and brother – Mrs. Frances Florence T. Mayson and Mr. William Thomas. She leaves to mourn her loss, her children: Ms. Fannie Davies, Mrs. Servinia Popeh (Joe), Ms. Chuku Albertine Davies, Mrs. Minnie Davies-Mensah (Nicholas), Mr. Eben Davies (Cynthia), Mr. Dan Davies (Power), Mrs. Saran Davies-Marshall, Ms. Eliza “Bonnue” Davies, and Mr. David Willie, Jr.; thirty-four (34) grandchildren; and seventeen (17) great grandchildren.

she is also survived by her brother, Columbus Koluba Grant; several nephews and nieces including - Ambassador Dew Tuan Wleh Mayson, Captain Samuel Geeplah Mayson, Jr., Dr. Robert Mayson, Mrs. Emily Gugbeh Mayson-Peal, Juanita Thomas, and several cousins including Gertrude Williamson King, Sylvester Williamson, Joseph Williamson, Attorney Aaron Von Williamson, Reverend Jane Mulbah, Rebecca Williams, and a host of beloved family and friends.
