Theodosia K. Collins

“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence comes my help. My help comes from the Lord, which made heaven and earth”. Psalm 121: 1-2

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts, the Collins, Davis, Baker/Carter, Harris, Roberts and Wright families announce the peaceful home-going of our dear mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, Theodosia K. Collins, on October 21, 2020 at the Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. She was a nonagenarian, a unique category of persons blessed by God to reach the milestone of her golden years. To God be the glory.

Theodosia was born unto the union of Thomas Gyibli Collins and Lucinda Davis Collins in Cape Palmas, Maryland County, Liberia. She began her elementary education at McCrity school and then went on to complete her secondary education at CWA (College of West Africa). She then attended the University of Liberia and thereafter started a career as an elementary school teacher. After teaching for several years she decided to join the Ministry of Labor, Youth and Sports where she accepted an internship to study in Tel Aviv, Israel. Upon completion of her studies and training she returned home and became the first female Labor Inspector of Liberia. She served in that capacity for over 30 years.

Due to the civil unrest in Liberia, she migrated to the United States in 1990 with her daughter Cathlyn and her family, and settled in Wisconsin until she was called home to our Savior. Theodosia loved to travel and so every year she looked forward to going on vacation. She was a devout Episcopalian, and member of Trinity Cathedral, Broad Street, Monrovia, Liberia for most of her life. In the USA she was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Wauwatosa, WI for 30 years until her passing. Her church family admired her for the many hat selections she wore on Sundays. Theodosia was kind and fun to be around. She was truly loved and will be sincerely missed but never forgotten. Rest In peace and may light perpetual shine upon you.

She leaves to mourn her loss her children: Joyce Harris, Cathlyn Roberts (Charles B) and Manfred Wright (Monica); grandchildren: Stella Mai, Precious, Malcolm, Letvie, Auriston, Charlcereen, Sandra, Christine, Charles III, Charlyn-Mai, Winston, Denise, Manfred, Michelle, Michael and Miketa; 28 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren; sisters: Lucinda Cranshaw, Lucille Foster and Lauretta Harris; a host of other relatives including nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and foster children who called her Big-Ma.

Dosia, Dosh, Golden-girl, Big-ma as she was affectionately called was predeceased by her parents:
Thomas and Lucinda Collins; her loving children: Nostelda, Agnes and Michael; her grandson, Julius; her great grandson, Austin; her siblings: Hugh, Comfort, Lydia, Sie, Thomas III, Arthur and Christine.
