Clarence E. Chenoweth, Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that the Chenoweth, Richardson, Stevens, and Moore families announce the home going of Clarence E. Chenoweth, Sr. in his 84th year. Clarence transitioned early in the morning of November 21, 2020 at the home of his daughter in Swedesboro, New Jersey, U.S.A. God saw Clarence had fought a good fight and kept the faith; He saw his tired face and called him to rest.

Clarence E. Chenoweth was born on July 13, 1936, unto Charles Harvey Chenoweth and Frances Russell in Robertsport, Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia, and West Africa. He attended St. John Mission Elementary and Junior High school and later enrolled at the Booker T. Washington Vocational School in Kakata, Margibi County, Liberia. Upon Graduation, Clarence briefly attended the University of Liberia; He later received a scholarship from the Liberian government to further his education in Mechanical Drafting in Israel where he received his degree in Mechanical Drafting

Upon return from Israel, Clarence E. Chenoweth joined work force at Booker Washington Institute in Kakata, Liberia, Where he taught Mechanical drafting for several years. He was later employed in the Housing Department with the Bong Mining Company, Bong County, Liberia. Clarence worked with the Bong Mining Company until his employment was interrupted by the Civil War in Liberia in 1990.

While in Israel, Clarence met the love of his life, Ms. Winifred Chenoweth, and married her on September 11, 1965. From that union, Clarence and Winifred had five children, (Gladies Chenoweth, Dr. Francien (Special) Chenoweth Richardson, Mr. Orlando Chenoweth, Mr. Clarence E. Chenoweth Jr. and Mr. Charles H. Chenoweth) His daughter, Gladies and his wife, Winifred predeceased him respectively.

Clarence and Winifred parented many children in Liberia, West Africa. He leaves to mourn their children, including Dr. Francien Chenoweth Richardson (Abraham), Orlando Chenoweth (Miatta), Clarence Chenoweth (Rhonda), and Charles Chenoweth (Tete). Additionally, Clarence leaves behind his sister and brother in Christ, Amelia Richardson Robinson and William Robinson, who contributed to providing care for him. He also leaves behind the following grandchildren: Anita Kerbay Johnson (Emanuel), Chelsea Chenoweth, Brandnan Chenoweth, Marcien Dorliae, Pierra Dorliae, Leila Richardson, Lorraine Richardson, Judith Samuels, Orlando Chenoweth Jr, Isaiah Chenoweth, Clarence Chenoweth III, Siena Chenoweth, Winifred Chenoweth and Clarence E. Chenoweth IV. One great-grand child, Elijah Sengbe, one sister, Lucinda Eastman and two nephews, Erwin Chenoweth and Jason Mason and a host of other relatives and friends.

Clarence E. Chenoweth Sr. will be fondly missed, but remembered for his endurance, generosity and love for family. He will forever live large in our lives.

The Funeral will be limited to immediate family members and friends who have made reservations on the church’s website, contact@rocklifechurch.org. When registering, please list name, phone number, and number of attendees, including self.

All attendees are expected to practice social distancing and wearing a mask in the church and at the Cemetery.

The family regrets that many family and friends are unable to attend the funeral service of Clarence E. Chenoweth.
