Sylvia Emmalene Cheeks (Mother)
The Cheeks, Bettie, George,
Henri and Anderson families announce with profound
regrets the death of their mother, grandmother,
sister, aunt, and cousin, Ms. Sylvia Emmalene
Cheeks on October 23rd, 2011 while spending
some family time in New Jersey, USA.
Mother
Dear, Big Mama, Sylvie or G.I. Moko as she was
affectionately called by her loved ones, leaves
to cherish her life her six (6) children and
in-laws, eight (8) grandchildren, as well as
two (2) great grandchildren. Her parents General
Charles G. Cheeks and Mrs. Lucy Bettie Cheeks
predeceased her.
Ms.
Cheeks was one of the founders of the Ministry
of Labor Youth & Sports, Executive Director
of the Group of 77, and one of 10 Liberians
(2 females) selected to travel to and be trained
in Israel. Ms. Cheeks traveled to several countries
in the world and represented her country appropriately.
