With
enduring love and great tribulations, the Brent,
Johnson, Massalee, and Garnett families announce
with profound regrets the sudden death of Hon.
Hannah G. Brent, Junior Senator of Montserrado
County, Republic of Liberia. This sudden and
heart wrenching event occurred on Monday, August
3, 2009 en route to the S.D.A. Cooper Clinic
in Monrovia, Liberia, following a brief illness.
The late Senator Brent is survived by her mother,
Mrs. Keimah Pine; two adored and lovely children,
Joyce Massalee (Nuku) and Sam Johnson, Jr.,
(Archie); one lovely granddaughter, Hannelle
Archlyn Tolbert, born just three days prior
to this grave tragedy. Hon. Brent also leaves
to mourn her loss four brothers-Joshua, Cooper,
Melvin and John; three Sisters-Korpo, Larngo
and Mammie; several nieces, nephews, uncles,
aunts, cousins, foster brothers and sisters,
adopted children, a dedicated office staff,
thousands of cherished CDC partisans and friends
in Liberia, USA, Europe and across Africa.
Wake keeping: The remains of Hon. Brent
will be taken to the CDC Headquarters in Monrovia
on Thursday, August 20, 2009, from 5:00-6:00
PM for partisans' last respect and onto the
Capitol thereafter to lie in state in the Capitol
Rotunda on Capitol Hill, Monrovia, for one night
of wake keeping sponsored by the House of Senate
and the Government of Liberia.
Funeral services: The funeral services
for Sen. Brent will be held at the Centennial
Memorial Pavilion in Monrovia on Friday, August
21, 2009, starting at 9:00 AM. Interment will
follow immediately thereafter at the Congau
Town Backroad Cemetery in Monrovia.
Meanwhile, a memorial service will be
held in Detroit, Michigan on Friday, August
21, 2009 starting at 6:00 PM, at Second Grace
United Methodist Church located at 18700 Joy
Road, in Detroit, Michigan, hosted by family
and friends of the late Sen. Brent as a way
of complementing the activities in Liberia on
that day. The Rev. Dr. Charles S. G. Boayue,
Jr., Senior Pastor and Esi Collins, Asst. Pastor
will be officiating.
