Dr. Samuel G. Bowman

The Bowman, Habo, Grimes, Woart, Bedell, Allison, Seton, Thomas and Mayson families announce with deep sorrow the passing of their father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and cousin, Dr. Samuel G. Bowman in his 78th year after a brief illness. This sad event occurred at The St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in Monrovia on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 10:30PM. Dr. Bowman provided healthcare services to the women of Liberia from all walks of life and delivered more babies than any other Doctor in Liberia. He received his specialization from The Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology in London, United Kingdom. Dr. Bowman gave hope to many women who felt destitute of being labeled as childless.
He leaves to mourn his memory, his three surviving siblings, James Bowman Jr., Amos Bowman, Marie Bowman-Woart, his children, Wlede Bowman, Sieanyene Kim Bowman-Trinity, Samuel Bowman Jr., Adrian Bowman, Sie-Evans Bowman, his niece (aka daughter) Ms. Georgia Grimes, his ex-wife and mother of his children, Ms. Laurentine Bowman-Bass, his grand-nephew Jeremiah Miracle Hotto, several nieces, nephews, foster children: Jimma Fahnbulleh, Eric Chea, Agnes Thomas, and a host of relatives and friends in Liberia, the USA and other parts of the world. His parents, Reverend James Bowman Sr., Sally Bowman and his wife Agnes Thomas Bowman predeceased him.
His home church family of 30 plus years - The First United Methodist Church, St. Joseph Catholic Hospital Family, The Rising Sun Lodge #5, The Liberia Medical and Dental Association, The United Methodist Board of Health and Welfare Ministries, his families, friends and sympathizers in Maryland County Liberia, respectively, and the Republic of Liberia will miss him dearly for his care and dedicated services.
We love you but God loves you best. Rest in Eternal Peace, until we meet again.
Removal and Wake Keeping:
Dr. Bowman’s Remains will be removed from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Home, Sinkor on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 4:00PM, and taken to the First United Methodist Church on Ashmun Street for Wake keeping from 6:00PM to 9:00PM.
All tributes will be made at the Wake Keeping with the exception of those printed in the funeral program.

Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 10:00AM at the First United Methodist Church, Ashmun Street
Interment: Kaiser Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Brewerville
COVID-19 restrictions will be observed in the church.
