It is with heartfelt sadness but humble acceptance of the Lord’s will that the Barclay family announces the home going of our beloved pioneer also known as the ROCK of our family -- Honorable Karpeh Zolu Barclay Sr. who departed this world at 3:15pm on March 9, 2016 at the SOS Medical Clinic in Monrovia, Liberia.

Hon. Karpeh Z. Barclay Sr. served his country and his home town of Bopolu District as a Weather Forecaster, Justice of the Peace and Notary Associate Magistrate during the Administration of the late President William V.S. Tubman. He also served as Commissioner from 1964-1967, Liberia House of Representative (Legislator) representing Bopolu District from 1971-1978, Superintendent for Gbarma Statutory District from 1978-1980, Assistant Minister for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Secretary General for the Grand Old True Whig Party from 1997-2000. Our late father was also a member of the Masonic Craft.

He was the father of 37 children. He leaves to honor his legacy his wives, Sanfee Kerkula Barclay & Hawa Barclay. His children, Korpo “Kwasee” Barclay, Thomas Jallah, Meatta Barclay Berete, Karpeh Z. Barclay Jr., Hawa Barclay, Debbie Nulay Barclay Quaye, Edwin Barclay, Victoria Barclay Kamara, Jartu Barclay, Zoe Barclay Peters, Elizabeth Barclay, Marwolo Barclay, Rosetta “Mommy” Sulonma, Fatu Barclay Zinnah, Dohkpa Barclay, Ballah Barclay, Momo Barclay, Masa Barclay, Johnny Barclay, Jaya Barclay, Zolu Barclay, Sanfee Barclay, Robertson Barclay, Jumah Barclay, Sam, Kolubah, Koleebro, and others. His brother, Dr. Daniel Barclay & family; His sister, Cecelia Barclay & family; His brother, Sapema Molly Barclay & family; His nephew, Augustus Mambue Bailey & family; His niece Hawa Barkon & family; His brother-in-law, Johnny Kerkula & family; Several grand and great+ grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Honorable Samuel Zolu Barclay Sr. and Madam Jartu Carpeh; grandparents, several children, several siblings, and other relatives.

May the soul of our loving husband, daddy, brother, uncle, nephew, grandfather, great grandfather, cousin and friend, rest in eternal peace.
