Hill Communities announce with profound regrets
the death of Major James Henry Kofie Baker affectionately
called “Pa” “Cousin Baker”,
“Major”, and "Cousin Kofi".
This sad event occurred on Saturday, March 26,
2011 at 6:30AM in Longview, TX.
Major
Baker leaves to mourn and cherish his memories,
his beloved wife of 45 years Anna Kador Johnson
Baker and children Daphnie Baker Cole(Solomon),
James Baker Jr, Comfort Itoka (Harry), Beatrice
Tucker, Anna Knuckles (Gabriel), Delia Baker,
Boyd Baker, Roosevelt Baker, Caroline Ross,
Joseph Ross, William Ross, Betty Nemah, many
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, cousins, and host of relatives.
He
was pre-deceased by the following: Matilda Baker
(sister), Prince Baker (son), Jean Baker (daughter),
Matilda Ross Brown (daughter), and George Gbasu
(son), James Ross(son), and Bettie Nemah(daughter).
Major
Baker served in the Liberian National Police
Department in Harper, Maryland County and later
joined the Executive Mansion Detachment of the
Special Security Services (SSS) where he was
assigned to the late President William VS Tubman
until his death in 1971. Major Baker was then
assigned to the late Vice President James E.
Greene until his death. Thereafter he was assigned
to Vice President Bennie D. Warner until the
Coup in 1980 during which time he was on a state
visit to the USA where he reside. He made Marshall,
TX his home in the USA thereafter. Major Baker
worked for the city of Marshall for over twenty
years. He then moved on to work for the Marshall
Independent School District, as he had a love
for children. Major retired and spent his time
with his family and good friends.
“Pa”
will be greatly missed and will forever live
in our hearts including those whose lives he
touched. May his soul rest in perfect peace
and light perpetual shine upon him.
