Ida Famatta Burphy Ajavon

The family of Ida Famatta Burphy Ajavon announces with profound sadness, the death of their matriarch on Sunday, June 3, 2018; peacefully at the SOS Hospital in Congo Town Monrovia, Liberia.
Mrs. Ajavon, a devout Episcopalian and renowned educator, is survived by her son, Carlos Ayite Ajavon, Jr. (Cleopatra), daughters, Myrna S. Ajavon & Cecelia George (Newton); grandchildren, Alrucia Harris Thomas (Ronald), S. Alfred P. Harris III, Cianna Carly Ajavon, Leona Ajavon, Sadie Ajavon (Vanessa), Famatta Ajavon, Tina Harris, Adolph Ajavon, Ida B. Ajavon and Bai Ajavon. She leaves to cherish her memory two great-grandchildren, Ronald Thomas III and Avery Ajavon.
She is also survived by her sisters; Sydia Burphy Lauer (Richard), Audrey Burphy Sims (Jonathan) and Jarsea Burphy; brothers, Edward B. Burphy, Jr (Mai) and Ernest Burphy. Mrs. Ajavon raised several foster children including Nathaniel Gibson (SiaGneh), Ruth E. George and Williametta Samuels (Mobutu). She is predeceased by her husband, Carlos Ayite Ajavon, Sr.; her children, William T. Ajavon, Ruby Alma Lydia Ajavon Harris, Boima Ajavon, Saluxe Ajavon; her parents, Lydia Elizabeth Ash and Edward Ballah Burphy; as well as her siblings Edmonia Richards, Claudia Addison, Martha (Marilyn) Haglund,George Burphy, Boimah Burphy, Nathan Burphy, Abraham and Gbo Burphy.
She will truly be missed by the numerous members of the Burphy, Ash, Bryant, Ajavon, Janide Freeman, and Dennis Families. Her legacy continues in the many lives she has touched, the relatives she has inspired, the students she molded, and her various church and society communities where her presence will always be remembered..
