Rev. Victoria Bayou Brownell Gray-Russell

Sunrise March 25, 1938----Sunset November 30, 2020

The Brownell, Gray and Russell families announce with great sadness the death of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, cousin, and aunt. She transitioned to be with the Lord on November 30, 2020 at Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown, Maryland.

Rev. Victoria B. Gray-Russell was born in Fortsville, Grand Bassa County under the union of Samuel D. Brownell and Meatah Brownell. She taught at the Seventh Day Adventist School in Monrovia, Liberia for over 14 years. She was a member of Gates of Heaven Midday Prayer Chapel under the leadership of Bishop Rachel Brown.

Rev. Victoria B. Gray-Russell came to United States in 1988 and resided in Silver Spring, Maryland. She served as an Associate Pastor at The Liberian American Central Baptist church in Silver Spring, Maryland, working the Senior Pastor Rev. Richard Howard.

In 1990, Rev. Victoria B. Gray-Russell founded The Liberian Christian Baptist church, which is currently Christian Baptist Church, where she served as Senior Pastor for several years. The Liberian Christian Baptist Church was received into full membership of the Montgomery Baptist Association on October 18, 1992. Rev. Russell was the first female pastor ordained in the Montgomery Baptist Association. The church membership grew under her leadership. Mother Russell was a dedicated and faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In 2013, Rev. Victoria Gray-Russell founded the Family Prayer Ministry, USA. She was a member of Miracle Prayer Ministry under the leadership of Rev. Miatta Teasly and Tuesday Cottage Prayer Band. Rev. Victoria B. Gray-Russell affiliated with several churches including the United Baptist Church (Rev. Genevieve Garnett), Whosoever Will Baptist Church and The Little White Chapel Church, USA.

Rev. Victoria Russell passing leave us sad, but we are glad that she is now in the presence of the Lord God Almighty. The memories of her smile, Love, kindhearted and gentle spirit will linger in our minds and hearts forever. Rest in Peace Mama!

Rev. Victoria Gray-Russell was predeceased by Rev. Joseph B. Gray, Deacon Joseph C. Russell and her loving sons Alexander B. Mickey Gray, Keekai O. Gray and Othello Gray. She is predeceased by her sisters Elizabeth Brownell (twin), Lucy Brownell-Jallah, Lulu Brownell-Sieh, Virginia Brownell-Embry, Annie Brownell, Tete Brownell and Brother Mitch Brownell.

Rev. Victoria B. Gray-Russell is survived by her sisters Theodosia Brownell, Beatrice Brownell, Rev. Alexine Howard and her dearest sister in-law, Rev. Sarah C. Perry. She is also survived by her children; Maima Ellen Gray, Edward B. Gray, Henrietta B. Gray, Letina Victoria Gray (Sweetie), Samuel D. Gray, Ellen M. Gray, Jonathan C. Gray, Benjamin J. Gray and Victor N. Gray (Korto Gray) and Rev. Samuel Morris. She is also survived by her stepchildren; Anthony Russell, (Josephine), Rose Russell Eyong (Linus), Willemina Russell and Hannah Russell. She is survived by 28 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and host of relatives and friends.
