The
Farmington Bridge on the Harbel - Buchanan
Highway
|
Good
news in Liberia travels fast, and one
good news we have been hearing lately
from people who traveled to Bassa, was
that the road was being fixed and that
is was being fixed nicely. On October
1, 2010, our camera crew decided to check
it out for ourselves and wow, were we
impressed!
The
renovated section of the road begins in
Firestone, Harbel. It is still a two lane
road, but it is paved nicely, with markings,
signs and drainages. The signs announces
curves, low shoulders, check points, bridges
ahead, etc. There are also signs with
the name of the towns along the road.
The road has been renovated in Margibe,
it has presently passed Cotton Tree and
Owens Grove and reached Bokay Town,
which is the 4th town along the road in
Grand Bassa County.
In
Cotton Tree area, sidewalks were added.
The walls of some of the drains and around
some bridges have been reinforced with
rocks and cement, giving it a very nice
look. What is still missing are adequate
shoulders to allow cars to safely pull
off the road and rest stops...(smile)
Since
they say "a picture is worth a thousand
words", I will let these pictures
of the road speak to you. Simply put,
the road is beautiful....
