 Mrs. S. Rebecca Divine
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV)
These were the life verses of S. Rebecca Divine, (affectionately called Doll Eye) Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Friend, Educator, Missionary, Humanitarian, and Servant of the Lord.
In the exercise of His sovereign will, the Lord chose to take her home in her 87th year. As He stated in John Chapter 14:1-3 “Let not let your heart be troubled. Ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am there ye may be also. ” (KJV/NIV). Mother Divine believed, and as a teenager, accepted Jesus Christ as Her personal Savior and Lord. She devoted her entire life to Him. After a very brief illness, she was ushered into the presence of Her Lord and Savior at 3:40 pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, to be with Him throughout eternity. May her soul rest in peace.
She leaves to mourn her loss and celebrate her life, five children, Solomon L. Divine (Louise) Patricia Divine-Jackson, Samuel R. Divine, Sr., (Genevieve) Napoleon L. Divine, (Anita) Immanuel C. Divine, Sr., (Ruth), Four sisters, Judge Luvenia Ash-Thompson, Ida Ash-Cooper, Angeline Darwin (Phillip) Evelyn Curry, Twelve grandchildren, Henry Blake (Ruth) Samuel R. Divine, Jr., (Tyronica) Samantha Jallah (Zilabeteh) Suzette Blake-Binda (Maxwell), Jared Divine, Celeste Zwehgar (Daniel) Joseph Dickerson, Sidney Divine, Samaria Divine, Ansel Jackson, Immanuel C. Divine, Jr., Suzette Divine, Fourteen great grand children, one foster grandson Nana Dixon(Betty) other foster children, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
The Wake keeping and the Memorial/Thanksgiving Services will be held in the United States before taking her remains to the Republic of Liberia where her funeral and interment will take place.
The family has asked that instead of giving flowers, please make donations to the Rebecca Divine Memorial Fund at Wells Fargo Bank, USA to continue the work of the John Love Divine Memorial School of Brewerville, Liberia that she co-founded with her husband, the Rev. John Love Divine, in 1949. The Account number is 196 392 0127.
